We're excited to be welcoming back Burt's Bees into the REMO General Store family of brands! It's been a very long time.

Burts Bees got its start back in 1984 in Maine, when graphic designer Roxanne Quimby and beekeeper Burt Shavitz teamed up to sell candles made from the beeswax created as a by-product of Burt's honey business. At the very first craft fair, they sold $200 worth, and by the end of the first year, sales climbed to $20,000. They were operating out of an old one room schoolhouse, for which they paid rent of $150 a year, the annual cost of the fire insurance paid on the house by the friend who owned it. They were on their way.

In 1991 Remo came across a tin of the classic Burt's Bees Beeswax Lip Balm on the counter of the original Restoration Hardware store in Berkeley ... and promptly made contact with Burt and Roxanne with a view to bringing it home for REMO in Sydney. The lip balm fast became a CustOMER favourite (indeed featuring on its own page in our June 1991 Catalogue). Over the years more and more Burt's Bees items were added to the range e.g. the Baby Bee lines. And who remembers the candles shaped like harvest fruits and vegetables?

Burt's Bees has ridden the green wave and is now a very large and global business. Burt and Roxanne have passed on the baton to other stakeholders and professional managers. Even so, the vision and the mission has remained the same. Burt's Bees is an "Earth Friendly, Natural Personal Care Company." They create natural, Earth-friendly personal care products formulated to help you maximise your well-being and that of the world around you. A fine attention to detail and a focus on high quality natural ingredients have been integral drivers of their success.

For our Burt's Bees range we are focusing on the starter kits and a selection of the iconic products. All great self purchases but also perfect gifts. With your help we may expand this later to include other items from their extensive range. We'll be polling you at the appropriate time!
