P.S: The Seacure Bum Bag Story

These words from Chris the Seacure founder:

They were developed when a friend and his son almost drowned in a boating accident off the NSW south coast. They had gone sailing on a small skiff one sunny afternoon. While a way off shore the boat flipped in a strong gust and they were thrown heavily into the water. Despite wearing a commercially available "waterproof bum bag" that was made of nylon, they discovered that it was merely spray proof and could not stand being submerged. The bag contained his mobile phone, wallet and car keys They all got soaking wet ... and the mobile phone became useless. Despite being in sight of land, they just had to hold on and pray for help. As the time dragged on, they were drifting further out to sea and the sun started setting. A storm was now sweeping up the coast, things were starting to look bad when a fisherman returning home to avoid the storm noticed the sun reflecting of the upturned centre board and went to investigate. They were finally safe! They tried to right the upturned skiff with his help but to no avail, so they had to leave it and head to shore as the wind and waves were getting worse. Later that night a huge southerly swept through and if they had not been rescued they would have drifted out to sea and probable lost their lives. This was when they decided to team up with me and design a totally new bum bag ... 100% water and crush proof that would also float (even with the lid open!)

I remember your Sydney store well. Always wonderful windows. I liked the back-to-basics feel and the sensation of being in a big toolshed. Somewhat overpriced, but a quirky mix of ideas. The catalogues were also a highlight. Online could be good for you guys. Marcus
