Bananagrams is a word game in which lettered tiles are used to spell words.

Rena Nathanson of Cranston, Rhode Island conceived and developed the idea for the game with the help of her extended family ... the members of which lived on both sides of the Atlantic and who would meet every summer by the sea on the east coast of the US.

The game grew from a passionate love of word games. Obsessed by all the word games that could be found, the Nathansons hankered after something a bit more fluid than the loved classics, and wanted a game that the family could play together ... ALL ages at the same time. They sought something portable, that could be taken along on various travels, and simple enough (with no superfluous pieces or packaging) so that it could be played in restaurants while waiting for food.

The name is derived from the family's claim that it's the "anagram game that will drive you bananas!"

Beginning as a family innovation, the game was made available to the public in January 2006 at the London Toy Fair.

The game is fast, fun and exciting. Good quality, tactile tiles add to the pleasure of playing. The object of the game is to arrange one's tiles faster than opponents and be the first to cause the pool of unused tiles to be exhausted. The tiles come in a pack that is made to look like a banana in its peel.

Bananagrams was listed as a must-have one of the top ten best travel games and has been listed as a best-seller among toy and gift retailers throughout the world.

I used to spend hours wandering around your Oxford St store, having a coffee, looking some more... and usually walked out with a purchase. I still have my original 'customer' bumper sticker and have an original lightbulb coffee cup near my desk for inspiration. These days I still love spending time browsing through your store, but do it online - not quite the same but more than good enough for now. Welcome back!
