Energy equals the mass of an object multiplied by the speed of light squared: E=mc2.
As a child, Einstein wondered what would happen if it were possible to travel fast enough to catch a ray of light. This led him to formulate his celebrated theory of relativity, first published in Leipzig on 14 May 1907.
